THE SITE

AHD

The site has the following features:

· Totally enclosed and gas heated / AC 3 meter site. While the building is large it contains no metallic parts or fasteners above the large ground plane wire mesh. The ground plane is under the carpeted floor and extends outside past the 10 meter tower.

· The 3 & 10 meter distances conform to the ANSI C63.4 SITE ATTENUATION requirements. The combination 10 meter site is an adjacent exterior tower. Both towers are remotely controlled allowing the antenna to be raised and lowered while operating the receiver. The antenna is mounted to the tower by two nylon bolts that are quick to release for switching from vertical to horizontal polarizations.

· State of the art Hewlett Packard HP8546A Receiver. The high accuracy of this receiver and it’s conformance to CISPR 16 requirements provides data that has world wide acceptance. The antenna gain curve is programmed into the receiver also reducing the time it takes to make a scan. The receiver can also drive a tethered monitor that can be place near the unit under test for real time feedback while debugging or adjusting the system.

· The turntable is all wood above the ground plane with outlets on the floor for powering the unit under test while being rotated to peak the emission readings.

· Selectable power sources allow for a large list of optional configurations. While most systems operate at 115/230VAC 60Hz at less than 30 amps some systems require 50Hz and still others 400Hz with voltages that vary from 90 to 240 Volts. The 115/230VAC is provided through line filters directly from the power company. The full variable power is generated from a solid state power source that can provide 1500 watts at 50 to 300 Volts at frequencies from 45Hz to 500Hz.

· The Hewlett Packard HP8640A signal source can be used to inject a calibrated signal into a reference antenna when that is requested in the test procedure ETSI-300-220 . This can also be used to evaluate the effectiveness of filter and or enclosure options prior to circuit board availability.

· The shield room can be used for Conducted certification test and also debug of characterized problem signals.

· The room is larger than 8 feet deep by 12 feet wide by 7 feet high.

· The conducted test are performed with 2 LISN devices.

· The power to the room has all the same options as the turntable.

· This test site is located in Dowagiac Michigan. The 9 acre site is surrounded by apple and grape (wine tours) country between two large bass fishing lakes (Round Lake - Magician Lake) in an 1800s gravel pit about 30 feet below the immediate terrain. This setting provides a very good ambient background and is very quiet, beautiful and peaceful. At the back of the grounds is a large man made pond that is home to many frogs and small fish.
